The iPhone 7 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 are pretty much those friends who like each other but constantly compete, I wish I had friends. But from all that I read and my experience messing around the galaxy s8, I think overall the iPhone 7 is better than the galaxy s8 for the reasons following this paragraph that i’m typing right now.
Samsung very rarely updates their phones, i’ve had almost every single one of their galaxy phones (except the Galaxy S1 and the Galaxy S5 but I will be buying that shortly) and I almost always had to root or rom that phone to keep it somewhat “updated”, it almost seems as if Samsung just wants you to update all the time rather than prolonging the life of your phone. However, apple almost always keeps their phones updated for atlas 3 years maybe more, the iPhone 5 had all different types of iOS versions that were available to it, and it’s still getting updates. And even if Samsung for some reason says their going to update this phone for years and years to come it’s still going to be super hard to believe them, on the flip side the iPhone 7 is obviously going to be supported for a long time.
The second reason is that the iPhone 7’s fingerprint sensor is on the front, compared to the Galaxy S8’s fingerprint sensor which is on the back by the camera, which is probably the worst place ever to put it like seriously. The only thing Samsung has going for it is the iris scanner on the front, but in my opinion that is simply a gimmick to get you to buy the phone. I just want to be able to take my phone out and use it as fast as possible, and if I have to go searching for the fingerprint sensor or go holding it up to my face to make it find my eyeball than it might get in the way of me using my phone.
The third reasons is that Samsung is still using Touchwiz! Okay, it’s gotten a little bit better but still, it isn’t that good and stock android is the most beautiful thing ever. Of course Samsung is using Touchwiz because it makes them money and what not but still, it doesn’t need to be so bloated and whatnot. Now iOS on the other hand is clean and simple, which is okay obviously Android is way more customizable but if it’s between iOS or TouchWiz, i’ll be picking iOS. Theres also the Bixby button that is pretty much Samsung’s version of Google Now, and they honestly didn’t need to do that. It’s cool they put a extra button on the phone but at least allow us to be able to assign that button to something else (out of the box).
The last reason kind of ties back in with reason 1, and that is pretty much the longevity of the phone. If you get the iPhone 7 it will probably last you longer than if you were to get the Galaxy S8. I would even want to say more than just the updates as well because you have to remember the Galaxy S8 has glass everywhere, so one accidental drop and you’ll probably have to replace the whole thing. One the iPhone theres only glass on the front, and theres a little bit more bezel around the screen rather than nothing so it should take a drop a little bit better than the Galaxy S8.
And thats pretty much it, watch the video I did about this article as well:
